Samantha Shelton is a singer, songwriter, actress, and all around grand dame born and raised in the North East corner of Los Angeles. Her homegrown melodies are sweet and salty, the songs of a city girl with a country heart, looking for a way out of town. Shelton's musical inspiration ranges from Big Band Jazz, to Country, Folk, and Pop, and her dulcet voice and distinctive lyrics offer whimsical observations on the nuances of love, the opportunities of heart break, and the strange and obtuse realities of living.

Where Shelton grew up, there was always music -- from harmonizing in the back of the VW van with her three older sisters, to singing at block party talent shows. Her mother, a folk Singer, and her father, a ranch bred Director, kept their doors open to all varieties of transient artists and eccentrics, weaving a colorful tapestry of music in the household.

Always a singer, Samantha also fell in love early with acting. After studying at the LA County High School for the Arts, and the North Carolina School of the Arts, Shelton wound her way back to Hollywood where she has worked consistently for eight years. Film credits include ShopGirl, White Oleander, Sorority Boys, Rise: Bloodhunter, and several other independent films. She has also appeared on numerous TV shows, as a regular on Lifetime's Monarch Cove, and as a recurring on NBC's Conviction, CBS's Judging Amy, and the CW's Gilmore Girls.

Alongside film and television, Shelton was always been hungry for live performance. In 2003, she and pal Zooey Deschanel created the hit cabaret act "...if all the stars were Pretty Babies!" Between acting gigs, the two girls would get dolled up and croon in harmony to sold out nightclubs for six years. When the Babies decided to develop their own solo acts, Shelton dusted off her guitar and notebook and quickly attracted a large and ever-growing fan base.

Produced by Phantom Planet bassist Sam Farrar, Samantha Shelton is proud to announce the release of her debut EP, "Good Morning Tonight"! Her full length album, "Are You Kidding Around?" is due out in January '09. Recorded under the auspice of new label Eagle Ear, Shelton was excited to work with such noteworthy collaborators as James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins), James Valentine (Maroon5), and Jason Schwartzman (Coconut Records). Her catchy songs reflect Shelton's unique point of view on a journey that promises the listener a transcendent experience.
