  • What is Your Favorite Song by LaMonte

by LaMonte on August 9th, 2009

It was 5:00am in the morning and my eyes could barely focus on the screen. I had just finished feeding my 10 month old daughter, Tyne, and laid her back down to sleep. But, I decided to break my routine and not go back to bed. I instead, decided to work on a few things while I had some quite time - other than the sporadic flow of cars zooming bye. Before I get in my zone, I must hit up my music library. So, at random, I selected an album. As luck would have it, I selected my favorite band, Radiohead. I feel in love with this group with the release of their album, OK Computer, which I believe is one of the best albums of ALL time.

My media player kicks in and blasting in my ear is 15 Step, from their latest album release, In Rainbows. I immediately start to sing, unknowingly, too loud. My wife comes down stairs to see what’s going on. She begins to laugh. It must have been my outfit – a green one piece pajama outfit – and the off key pitch in my voice as I attempt to sound like Thom York. As if that were even a possibility, but I try nevertheless. Kuri reminds me to lower my voice so I don’t wake the baby. Good call on her part. I wasn’t aware of how loud I was due to the headphones. We’ve all been there before, belting out tunes, oblivious of our surroundings and volume of singing.

She returns to bed and I continue to sing along with every song, in a much softer voice. I’m in a zone now baby, as Weird Fishes gets my head to bouncing as if I were in a bumpy car ride. I zoom through my action items list, loving the moment I am in.

Back to the purpose of this blog entry; the team and I are suppose to journal our favorite current song. Well, I don’t have a favorite current song, but I do have a favorite current band, Radiohead. They are simply amazing and with every album release, they seem to blow me totally away.

I have a question(s) for all of you who are reading this blog: What is your favorite Radiohead song? Where were you when you first heard it and why is that particular song your favorite? If you are not a fan of Radiohead, I strongly recommend you hop on the bandwagon. All pun intended. Should you know of someone who is a fan, please send them this blog entry, as I’d love to hear what they think.

    Rock On…

      • If My Life Were a SoundTrack - LaMonte

by LaMonte on January 20th, 2009

Immediately, I thought of a soundtrack that fit me perfectly.  The raw emotions of the melody played perfectly with each scene of the movie.  The movie and its soundtrack so eloquently articulates love, passion, trust, despair, war and sacrifice.  Doesn’t that sound a bit like today’s world?  At the very least, it has some of those elements piercing each of our souls.  Which leads me to the million dollar question, what does the future have in store for me?

Well, I know I must love and respect relationship.  Love the idea that I can love as much as I want, and no one can slow its pace.  I must live with a sense of passion.  Believe in what I love and feel its passion.  I must trust in Good.  I must trust that Goodness will have my back and protect me against that which threatens my love.  Despair will surely show its face, but I will be prepared as the aforementioned will have positioned me to embrace it.  War, well, it seems that will always be present.  Maybe it has something to do with people not wanting to love and be loved.  Lastly, sacrifice.  I have profound respect for sacrifice, for it is the ultimate expression of love and selflessness.  What am I willing to sacrifice for love and relationship?  Emphatically, EVERYTHING!

The soundtrack that set the stage, that evoked such emotion, is The Last of the Mohicans .  I’m not asking any of you to embrace my feelings about this soundtrack, but I am curious however to hear of any soundtrack, that moved you, that struck a cord, that made you say, I really like that.

So, please share with us your soundtrack of life?
